• 5.0 out of 5 stars from Robert W. Smith -- outstanding : David Hume's Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding is outstanding. Hume is brilliant. His writing is, at times, as he enunciates what seems to be common sense several hundred years later, leads to my finding it very dry at times. It is, nevertheless, one of the key writings that the American founding fathers adopted and incorporated into our new republic. As a masterpiece of those times, I give it an A+. As a book read in the 21st century, I give this an A-. It can be a tough read at times, but it is well worthwhile. ( Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2009 )
